Winter in New York City

We can’t quite believe it ourselves but the Winter months have rolled around again, so let’s take a trip over to NYC, a city filled with just about everything you require for a seasonal city break…

Thanksgiving -Nov 28th 2019

There isn’t a more iconic event to celebrate America’s National Day of thanks than the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Filled with huge floats, giant balloons, dancers, entertainers and celebrities, it’s truly a sight to behold whether you’ve flown there purely to see it or it’s an added extra to your visit.

You’ll be able to see the parade first hand through the streets of Manhattan, starting at 77th Street and Central Park West and finishing at Macy’s Herald Square between 9am and noon! We recommend getting down early before heading off for your Thanksgiving dinner and champagne…

Rockefeller Christmas Lights Switch On – Dec 4th 2019

The Rockefeller Christmas Tree light up always shortly follows Thanksgiving and heralds the start of the festive season in the city. The 85ft tree has been a long-standing tradition in NYC Christmas since back in 1933, it features over 50,000 lights and a Swarovski star.

Where to stay

You’re spoilt for choice if you’re looking for 5 star accommodation in the Big Apple, so spoilt in fact you’d be hard pushed to choose one but here are some ideas…

The Chatwal: Located in Midtown Manhattan, this luxury hotel comes complete with Butler service, a variety of suites including roof decks, garden terraces and stunning views. If you’re looking to dine in the hotel then pay a visit to The Lambs Club, a luxe Empire Deco restaurant serving Modern American cuisine.

The Ritz-Carlton: Overlooking Central Park, the Ritz-Carlton is a 1930s built landmark. Butler and limousine services are available upon request as well as access to the luxurious spa facilities. If you’re travelling with your family cat or dog, they’re also welcome to stay (they’re also welcome on board your chartered Vertis flight too!)

The Peninsula: You’ll find the Peninsula Hotel on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, a prime location for all the city’s prestigious shopping, cuisine and culture at your fingertips. If you book into one of the hotel’s suites, you’ll also receive round the clock, chauffeur driven airport transfers, a personalised sleep experience and premium liquor inclusively.

Where to dine

Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare: Absolutely worth ensuring this one is in the diary for your visit. It’s one of New York’s three Michelin starred restaurants where diners are treated to a communal dining experience featuring the exquisite of Chef Cesar Ramirez. The menu is inspired by a combination of Japanese cuisine and French technique and it changes depending on the season.

Restaurant Daniel: Based on the Upper East Side, this two Michelin starred restaurant has received numerous accolades for its memorable European cuisine steeped in French History. Diners are able to experience a vast range of the finest meats, wild game, seafood, fruits, vegetables and foraged flavours from around the world. The wines complement the menu by recommendation of their Head Sommelier, Raj Vaidya, these include wines from the Rhône and Burgundy, as well as a robust Champagne program.

Marea: Another two Michelin star wonder where (in their own words) ‘the authentic, bracing flavors of coastal Italy meet the style and swagger of New York to form a new kind of gusto.’ With three menus available; brunch, lunch and dinner, the kitchen is led by Chef di Cucina Molly Nickerson who highlights the best of the sea and beyond, with crudo, oysters, antipasti, award-winning handmade pastas, composed fish dishes, whole fish preparations, and grilled meats.
