The Ultimate Formula One Experiences

The 2019 Formula One World Championship is now well underway, with three of this season’s 21 Grands Prix having already been decided. Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain has won two races, with Finland’s Valtteri Bottas winning one. Even if you haven’t been following F1 closely, however, watching a Grand Prix live is an unmissable experience.

Going to watch Formula One exposes you to top level sport in some of the world’s most amazing cities. No other sporting championship is as truly global as the Formula One World Championship, with races being held in all four corners of the globe.

Coming up over the next few weeks are Grands Prix in some beautiful parts of the world, so even if you don’t know your Renault from your Red Bull, you’ll love a day at one of the sporting world’s most exclusive events.

Barcelona

The fifth race of the season, The Spanish Grand Prix will not only be hotly contested on the circuit, but it’s a fantastic reason to get yourself to sunny Barcelona.

Barcelona earns its reputation for being one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is the jewel in the crown, an architectural wonder dating back to the 19th century. There’s also the Nou Camp tour, where you can experience the illustrious history of Barcelona Football Club, and the iconic street of Las Ramblas.

When and where: The Spanish Grand Prix is held on the 12th May at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Montmeló.

F1 trivia: The race is one of the oldest in the world still contested, dating back to 2013.

Monaco

After Barcelona, the Formula One circus moves into Monte Carlo, a city synonymous with luxury hotels, casinos, and of course the Grand Prix. When and where: The Monaco Grand Prix is held on the 26th May at the Circuit de Monaco, Monte Carlo.

Silverstone

The Mecca for British racing fans, Silverstone may not be the home of the British Grand Prix for much longer. The owners of the circuit have announced they’re ending their contract with Formula One early, so it’s time to visit Silverstone while you still can.

The Silverstone circuit is near the village of Silverstone in Northamptonshire. While this is somewhat remote for a Formula One circuit, it’s within easy reach of London by road or rail.

When and where: The British Grand Prix is held on the 14th July at the Silverstone Circuit, Silverstone.

F1 trivia: The British Grand Prix was the first race of the first ever Formula One World Championship in 1950.

Abu Dhabi

You’ll have to wait until December, but the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix promises to be the ultimate finale for the Formula One season. The capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi sits off the mainland in an island in the Persian gulf and is dominated by modern towers and shopping megacentres. So the dream destination for some retail therapy.

When and where: The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is held on the 1st December at the Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi
