If you are planning a trip to Croatia, the Plitvice Lakes National Park has to be one of your first stops. This is Croatia’s oldest and biggest national park and is a UNESCO heritage site due to its breath-taking views, its fauna and is a four-season playground known for its pristine forests, stunning waterfalls, and dozens of turquoise lakes.

Located within the borders of this profoundly forested national park, 16 crystalline lakes tumble into each other via a series of waterfalls and cascades. There are two parts to the park – the upper lakes, and the lower lakes. The park gives you a few different options for routes to take based on what you want to see and how long you want to be walking for. The park is open 365 days a year 7 am to 8 pm, it is recommended you start your hike early to get the best possible experience.
